Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist and poet. He was awarded the 1930 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his Selected Poems. He is the father of the English writer Joan Aiken. Aiken's tombstone is in the shape of a bench as an invitation to visitors to stop and enjoy a Madeira at his grave.
