Soviet-era surrealist and absurdist poet, writer and dramatist. In August 1941 Kharms was arrested for spreading "libelous and defeatist mood" and in order to avoid execution he faked insanity and he was imprisoned in a psychiatric ward. Kharms died from starvation during the siege of Leningrad; he was exonerated in 1960. His burial location was unknown until 2016 when, following extensive research, it was concluded that he was buried at Piskarevskoye Cemetery.
