Hungarian Romani writer. He is best know for his 1975 novel Füstös képek (The Color of Smoke) which is based on personal experience. Set during World War II it is a Bildungsroman that shows life in a Roma village in Northeast Hungary, from 1940 until the German occupation of the country in 1944 when Roma people were put into death camps. He was the recipient of the Attila József Prize in 1976 and 1993.
