English poet and author. He is best remembered for The Canterbury Tales, a collection of stories told by fictional pilgrims on the way to Canterbury Cathedral. 
After his death he was buried in Westminster Abbey and in 1556 his remains were transferred to the area now referred to as Poets’ Corner.
