English actor, songwriter and playwright. He started acting in the West End at an early age and by 1920 he was staring in I’ll Leave it to You, a full length play that he had written himself.  As well as acting and writing he also composed popular songs and had a recording contract. 
During the Second World War Coward wrote, directed (along with David Lean) and stared in the Oscar nominated navel drama In Which We Serve. After the 1950s his popularity declined but he still maintained a high public profile. He moved to Jamaica for tax reasons where he remained for the rest of his life.
