French author.  Much of his work deals with experimental wordplay and classification; for example in Life: A User’s Manual the ninety-nine chapters move around the room plan of a Paris apartment following the pattern of a knight moving around a chessboard. His 1969 novel The Void is a three hundred page lipogram that does not contain the letter e.
